Over the next few weeks I will be sharing my “Ode to Bettie Page” striptease pinup set!
Bettie Page is a huge modelling inspiration to me. She was the queen of posing and had the perfect face to match each look. From fun and peppy, to sassy and seductive, Bettie’s range was astounding and diverse. I hope I have done her justice in portraying the different moods and looks of Bettie. Please enjoy the next few weeks of Bettie inspired photos!
Just as many of Bettie’s outfits were created by her, my outfit was designed and created by myself, from my outer layers to my under layers. Photos by If You Fall Photography.
A few months ago myself and a bunch of my burlesque pals (Betty Quirk, Sevvy Skellington, Meryle Trouble and Dante Him) had a burlesque themed photoshoot with Haley Frisen for her thesis project and here are some of the results! Check out the rest of her amazing portfolio at www.haleyfriesenphotography.com
Looking for a good time on May 1st? Come check out Dolly Berlin’s Peeler’s Playhouse! This show is going to be a good old fashion raunch-fest with lots of bumpin’, grindin’ and go-go gals going wild! Myself and Betty Quirk will be bringing back our legendary Russ Meyer themed Cat Fight routine for this evening and you won’t want to miss it!

Today is the premiere of the 7th season of Mad Men!! I have been a die-hard fan of Mad Men from the get go. Not only is it one of the most intelligent, well-written and captivating shows on television it’s also packed full of amazing costuming, styling and set design. Seeing all those beautiful 60s/70s outfits really inspires me creatively. I just had to cosplay my favourite character from Mad Men, Joan Holloway! To make this dress I bought a vintage 60s dress pattern and picked a very Joanie red fabric. This dress is super comfy and I actually wear it to my work (as a receptionist) quite often. I like to embrace that Joan strength and power when I sit at my desk as work.
Modeling as been on my mind a lot recently, so I thought I would share some photos of one of my modeling inspirations; Betty Brosmer!
Betty Brosmer was the classic, American pinup girl! Betty graced the cover of over 300 magazines and book as well as being featured in thousands of magazine spreads. She had won over 50 beauty contests before the age of 20, appeared on hundreds of calendars and was even on a billboard in Time Square. But Betty was not just a pretty face, she had business savvy as well. She was the first model to receive residuals every time her picture was published, she was one of the first models to own the rights to many of her photos and was the highest paid model of her time. Betty and her husband Joe Weider wrote several fitness books together and co-founded the fitness magazine Shape, which is still published today!
Last night was Pussy Whipped Wednesday at the Boxine Sex Club in Toronto. The lovely Laura Desiree produced the second monthly Dances the Cramps Taught Us event with burlesque performers and go-go dancers shaking it to songs by the Cramps. My design partner/bff, Betty Quirk and I did our go-go/cat fight routine. We were surrounded by lots of talented dancers including Tanya Cheex, Fionna Flauntit, Esther DeVille, Lorretta Jean and Aviva Mirage!

Myself and three of my best gal pals (Betty Quirk, Meryle Trouble and Sevvy Skellington) had an amazing photo shoot on Sunday with up and coming photographer extraordinaire Haley Friesen as part of her thesis project. I can’t say much more except that the shoot was burlesque themed and we were asked to stick with a pale pink/blue colour pallet. We each put our own spin on the theme and we ended up with some really fun outfits. We were also joined by dancer/boylesque newbie Dante Him, who added some masculine energy (and buttocks) to our very girly shoot. I’m so excited to see the final photo results. For now, here are some behind the scenes teasers!

I’m a big fan of Valentine’s Day and this year I had a blast at the Electro Swing Club Party with some of my best friends! It was a magical evening at Revival and of course we were all decked out in our finest retro attire. A bunch of my friends participated in the costume contest, entering in the categories for Dashing Doll, Dapper Dude and Classy Couple, and they all won! This magical evening would not have been complete without a titillating burlesque routine from the fabulous Charlie Quinn!
