Beyond the Valley of the Dolls with Dottie Champagne

My doll of the week is none other than the delightful Dottie Champagne!  This little darling is a newbie Burlesquer with a seriously glamourous vintage appeal.  Decked out in a family heirloom and a little bit of faux-fur, Dottie is ready for glass of champagne!

A Sprinkle of Saffron St. James

This week’s Glamour Girl is the sensual Saffron St. James.

Saffron St. James is an Hourglass and a Half and can be seen performing with Ottawa’s premiere Nerdlesque troupe; Browncoats Burlesque.  She was the winner of the Ottawa Burlesque Festival’s 2014 Burlesque Idol competition in her first year of performing.  Her lively and vibrant personality comes through so much in her expressions and she was an absolute pleasure to work with on this shoot.

Lorelei the Burlesque Babe

First up from my new series Glamour Girls is the fierce and frisky Lorelei!

This Burlesque Babe has a real Tura Satana vibe with her raven hair, winged eyeliner and the way she combines strength and seductiveness.  You can see Lorelei embracing her inner Russ Meyer girl on July 28th at The Royal Cinema for the Ladies of Burlesque’s screening of Faster Pussycat Kill Kill featuring Lorelei as the burlesque entertainment for the evening.

Glamour Girl Photoshoot

Once again I have had the pleasure of working with an amazing group of glamourous ladies for a fantastic, fun-filled photoshoot!  My hair and makeup team of Natasha and Gail slayed once again on the styling for this pinup themed shoot.

My beautiful models were Saffron St James, Natasha, Jennifer, Henrietta VIII, Betty Quirk and Lorelei.  Here’s a little taste of what we did with more to come in the coming posts!

Hello Dolly

I’m so happy to share another lovely photoset from my shoot with Photolena!  This look was inspired by the classic pinups of the 1950s.  In a sparkly blue dress made by me and a white faux-fur from my amazing friend Leelando, I am taking some important calls.

Jessica Rabbit

One of my favourite cartoon characters of all time is the voluptuous vixen Jessica Rabbit.  Who better to portray Jessica than the Triple B with the Double Ds: Bianca Boom Boom!  This burlesque beauty looks smoldering in the glittery gown created by my Betty Monroe bestie Betty Quirk.  If you want to see more of Bianca you can catch this lovely lady on May 21st at Thigh High: The Kush of Kabert as well as at this year’s Toronto Burlesque Festival at the end of July.

Please enjoy some very classic curves from Bianca Boom Boom, a real life Jessica Rabbit!

Pinup Perfection with Sevvy

The beautiful blue haired Sevvy Skellington is the model of the week!  Sevvy is an artist, working in set and graphic design.  She is also a work of art herself, with a striking alternative beauty.  Sevvy is also co-producer and performer for Peepshow TO.  You can see her perform this summer at Revenge of the Strip: A Star Wars Burlesque Tribute.  Please enjoy these pinup pics of Sevvy Skellington!

Inspiration: Dita Von Teese

I have always had a great love of fashion and style.  As a child my favourite thing to do was to play dress up.  I would wrap myself in scarves, adorn my head with a fancy hat, paint my mother’s lipstick on my lips, cheeks and eyelids and prance around the house.  Eventually that passion blossomed into a mature form and I began to use my style as a form of self expression.  Being a shy person, fashion has always been my way of communicating who I am non-verbally.

FHM-China-2013-Black-Valvet---Dita-von-Teese-2_1260.jpgI don’t remember the exact moment when I became aware of Dita Von Teese, but I do recall as a teenager saving every image of I could find of her.  Lusting after her sparkle encrusted corsets and lace gowns.  The hats, the gloves, the feathers, the red lipstick!  She was the epitome of high fashion and good taste to me.  Even more than her burlesque presence, it was her style sensibility that attracted me to Dita.  In Dita I saw the ability to not only stand out through fashion, but to do so in the most elegant way.

Dita Von Teese has greatly influenced me in my personal style, from hair and makeup to clothes and accessories.  Dita is the modern incarnation of the vintage pinups who I have always adored.  When I see her in performance I am struck not by her dance or acting abilities, but by her style and grace, and I look at her as if a beautiful painting has come to life.  She may not be revolutionary in her technique but she is highly skilled in her presentation.  Dita brings to life the glamourous feel of previous era.

My-Private-Cointreau-Coffret-by-Dita-Von-Teese-4I was so lucky to get the chance to meet my fashion idol last weekend as she graced Toronto with her presence for a live show at the Phoenix and a book signing at Rosie the Rebel.  I was happy to find that this person who has helped to shape and influence me so much was just as lovely as I imagined.  Dita smiled sweetly and signed her photograph as I blushed and stared at her perfectly coiffed hair.  I hope to have the opportunity to see Dita again on stage one day, but for now the memories of this very special day will live on in my mind.

Valley of the Dolls: Delicia and Mong Tho

Happy Valentines Day!

To celebrate I have two lovely ladies who will capture your heart; the delectable Delicia Pastiche and the magnificent Mong Tho!

Delicia Pastiche is one of the wonderful Nerd Girl Burlesque producers.  Delicia is a talented lady both on and off the stage, and is always working on the next Nerdlesque production.  Besides being on stage once a month at Tassels and Tabletops, a burlesque and boardgames event at the Smiling Buddah in Toronto, Delicia has been hard at work planning the next big show Achievement Undressed.  You won’t want to miss this Video Game inspired production!  While Delicia is busy on stage, Mong Tho is working away backstage as a sassy Stage Manager.  Yes, this girl sure can pack a punch, but underneath she’s sweet as pie.

Please enjoy this set of photos of these lovey dovey ladies!
