Diva Divine

Happy Tuesday!  I thought I would post something a little different for my photoset this week.  This robe was originally a costume piece I made for a stage show I used to be involved.  I love the sheer almost giraffe-like pattern of this fabric.  It is the perfect sexy peekaboo print!  The feather trim on the sleeves gives a fun and dramatic flare to the robe.  Simply divine!

Scaille Maille

My amazingly multitalented friend Poisonne has recently exploded the internet with her awesome collection of scale jewelry and clothing called Scaille Maille.  These stunning creations are like dragon skin that has been skillfully tailored to the human form.  With necklaces, gauntlets, bras, harnesses and even neck ties in her collection there is something in any style for the adventurous warrior in us all!  Each piece is custom made to the size and colour you desire, with many beautiful colours to choose from including my favourites pink and the very mermaidy turqoise.  Prices range from $68 to $90 for the smaller pieces and $160 to $900 for the larger more elaborate work.  Well worth the money when you see the quality of craftsmanship and unique beauty in each item.  I really can’t say enough good things about Poisonne’s work and I highly recommend you check out her etsy shop and snag some of these killer pieces for yourself!

Batwoman!

A few weeks ago I was so lucky to perform in the Nerdlesque Festival in New York city as the vibrant superhero Batwoman.  Not Batgirl… Batwoman.  I also performed this act at Peepshow TO’s Nude 52 show last October.  I thought I would share some of the photos from these events of the epic costume I put together for this act.  This is another example of Burlesque Cosplay, where slight modifications are made to help with the removal of each item.  Instead of having one full bodysuit I decided to cut out the thighs and put in garters.  I also made the boots into bootcovers that are removed like stockings with a simple nude dance shoe underneath.  The most fantastic part of this costume though is the cape!  This thing is a monster that stretches past my reach and has dowels sewn in to help me hold it up.  But my absolute favourite part of the costume in my amazing mask which is leather and was made for me by the brilliant leatherworker and costume designer Adam Smith!  I love the way this costume turned out and I have found each time I wear it that there are a lot of Batwoman fans out there that appreciate the outcome of my effort and love seeing this fierce, Jewish, lesbian badass hero come to life!

Mermaid Tattoo: Almost Completed!

After 5 more painstaking hours at the tattoo shop my beautiful mermaid is almost complete! Thanks again to the wickedly talented Suspiria for putting this ink on my body.  I’m so in love with her!  Anyone have a good suggestion for a name?

Little Red Doll

Back when I was still in fashion design school I created these pieces for a final project.  They walked the runway in the end of year fashion show and have also been photographed for Auxiliary Magazine.  But my favourite use of this Victorian style, shear blouse and red, silk bloomer shorts was in this photoshoot with model Elizabeth and photographer Bailey Northcott!

LBD

Every girl needs a LBD in her wardrobe, right? I made this dress from some amazing black cotton fabric I got on sale at Fabricland.  I fell in love with the bottom edge of this fabric which has a lovely embroidered, cutout pattern.  It’s a nice light dress to wear in the spring but has a real dark, witchy feel.  I added a few lace details to play up that gothic look.  Jewellery by Celluloid Sleaze!

Vintage Clothing Show

On Sunday my gal pal Brittany and I went to the Vintage Clothing Show at Toronto’s Metro Convention Centre.  We had an absolute ball browsing through vintage dresses, jewelry, accessories and art and each came away with some lovely pieces.  Here’s a taste of what we got up to at the show…

I loved this beautiful red and white polka dot swing coat! It totally screamed Dolly! I didn’t end up getting it, but it was fun to try.

Spring is Here!

It’s officially spring and you know what that means?  Snow!  Well, here in Toronto it’s definitely not feeling like spring yet but I’m in the mood to shed some layers and go out in a fun dress like this one; a little Betty Monroe design I made a few summers ago. I’m a sucker for a beautiful rosey floral and a red ruffle and this dress always makes me want to dance.  I hope I help put a spring in your step today!
