At the end of 2022 I had the pleasure of photographing three incredible drag artists from Season 2 of Call Me Mother, Champagna, Newfound Lad and Kingchella. These three are such beautiful humans and we had a lovely time making some sensual art together!
It was my most successful year to date, with a total of 40 shoots completed! I had at least one photoshoot every month and February was the busiest month with 6 shoots altogether. Some photos you’ve seen, some are for private clients and some have yet to be revealed. I worked with more new clients than ever before and made incredible connections that I truly cherish.
Even though the world continues to be a confusing and scary place I feel like this year I gained a lot of my confidence back as a photographer and an artist. The previous two years were challenging, but this year I made an effort to pursue my passion and I have honestly never been happier in my life!
I feel I have gained incredible momentum in 2022 and my dreams for next year are to continue to grow my photography business and to gain more knowledge and skills as a photographer.
I’m so excited to share something a little different this week! My incredible partner, Flare aka Flarington King, an influential Drag King who has been performing for 25 years, did this amazing Kenny Rogers look to shoot a brand new video performance!
You can catch their interpretation of “The Gambler” by Kenny Rogers at the Drag King Legends show, happening on February 21st on Zoom. This show, produced by Flare, Mo B Dick, Ken Vegas and Fudgie Frottage, is a celebration of Drag King artists with 25+ years of performing under their belts. Truly an historic event and one drag fans won’t want to miss!
I had the absolute pleasure of photographing one of my favourite couples at the Dolly Shots Studio; the beautiful burlesque babe Bianca Boom Boom and the fabulous drag artist Black Swan! Their love is so palpable, it was really a pleasure to photograph them, and I’m so happy to share the first of two photosets today!
2018 has been a transitional year. It has been the uncomfortable growing stage in between leaving a past self behind and becoming a new creature. It has been hard and it has been a journey but ultimately it has been worth it.
The biggest change in my life this year was leaving my soul-sucking, 9-5 office job for a more creative career path. I have had some of my best photoshoots, both in front of and behind the camera and worked with a whole plethora of new and wonderful people! I made a fabulous new costume for one of my favourite performers, Laura Desiree. I celebrated the marriage of two of my dearest friends. I got a new, badass tattoo of my idol Tura Satana from my girl Suspiria! And to top off the whole year I move back into my apartment after nearly a year of extensive renovations!
I am now in the process of setting up Dolly Shots Studio for 2019 and I am so excited to share it with you! Stay tuned next year for lots more fabulous-ity and beauty!
