Celebrating Success in 2023

2023 has been a truly fantastic year for Dolly Shots Photography!

Last year I had 40 shoots altogether and this year my total was 55! My busiest month was January with 12 photoshoots, including my “I Love Me” Valentine’s Day photoshoot event. I had some beautiful partnerships with local businesses including Gigi’s House of Frills, Doll Factory by Damzels, PeepshowTO and Hot Shots Chocolate. 

Earlier this year I was thrilled to be asked to do an interview and be featured in feminist magazine Rebelle Zine! This was my first time being published in a magazine and for my work to be celebrated in such a way. It was truly an honour, and if you are interested in reading the article it is available online here. 

Another exciting moment was the Pinup Photo Frolic I went to in Las Vegas as part of the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekender. It was my first time going as a photographer and I had such a lovely time and met so many gorgeous people at that event!

My biggest achievement this year was the production of my first commercial for Dolly Shots! My incredible production team of Charlie Quinn and Robin Blanchard helped bring my vision to life by showing off my studio space, my business and me! 

I am so grateful to all the wonderful people I have worked with this year and I am excited to see what’s next!

Looking Back on 2022

I am so proud of the work I accomplished this year with Dolly Shots Photography!

It was my most successful year to date, with a total of 40 shoots completed! I had at least one photoshoot every month and February was the busiest month with 6 shoots altogether. Some photos you’ve seen, some are for private clients and some have yet to be revealed. I worked with more new clients than ever before and made incredible connections that I truly cherish.

Even though the world continues to be a confusing and scary place I feel like this year I gained a lot of my confidence back as a photographer and an artist. The previous two years were challenging, but this year I made an effort to pursue my passion and I have honestly never been happier in my life!

I feel I have gained incredible momentum in 2022 and my dreams for next year are to continue to grow my photography business and to gain more knowledge and skills as a photographer.

Sam and Trevor: JUST MARRIED!

I can barely remember when I first met Sam and Trevor because it feels like we’ve known each other forever.  I do, however, remember that upon being told of their engagement I was quite surprised since I had no idea they were even dating!  This pair has always been quite private about their relationship, which, in a world where all our interactions are broadcast online, is quite a rare thing.  Knowing all that, how lucky am I to have been invited to snap some shots of this lovely couple being publicly romantic for their engagement photos?!  These photos are even more special since they were taken at Honest Eds, a cherished Toronto landmark which will see its demise at the end of this year.

It’s been a long time since I first learned of their engagement and in that time I have grown to know and love Sam and Trevor as the incredible, kind, loving (and sarcastic) people that they are.  I can’t imagine two people who compliment each other more perfectly.  Trevor is the calm in the storm.  He is patient and thoughtful and wise.  Sam is a little firecracker!  She is passionate and outspoken and a fierce friend.  They are the perfect Ying and Yang.  These two were meant to be in a way I have never seen in any other two people and it feels as if they have been married for years when in fact it’s been only a matter of hours!

Sam and Trevor, I wish you both a long and happy marriage filled with joy and compassion and love!  Congratulations Sam and Trevor!!
